United Way Reaches Goal
Plattsburgh, NY (February 2, 2007) The United Way of Clinton and Essex Counties, Inc. has wrapped up its 2007 campaign. The goal of $750,000 has been met and included were proceeds from the golf tournament held in Lake Placid and the polo match held in Keene. The final results totaled $754,981.00. John Masella, campaign chair, said “I am so happy we reached the goal. It was a team effort from the campaign cabinet and volunteers, United Way staff, Mike Mannix and John Bernardi. Most importantly however, the people in the community that gave from their heart. Thank you from my heart.” Employee campaigns along with corporate gifts not previously reported include: Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital- $40,346.00 a significant increase from last year, UPS- Ground/SCS- $36,295.74, Georgia Pacific Corp. members of USW Locals 140 and 387 along with salaried employees- $34,577.25. A. Schonbeck and Company- $15,825.36, Price Chopper-Plattsburgh/Champlain/Lake Placid $8,625.24, International Paper Company $8,619.38, Nine Platt Hospitality Group $4,462.00, Essex County Government $4,290.00, General Composites, Inc. $3,124.00, Bombardier Transportation $2,472.00, Hulbert Brothers, Inc. $2,280.00, Meadowbrook Healthcare $2,271.00, Saranac Central School $2,169.00, Eastern Technical Services, Inc. $1,548.00, Evergreen Valley Nursing Home $1,376.00, Lowe’s Store #1195 $928.20, Lockrow’s Inc. $889.00, Champlain Telephone Company $852.00, Weber International Packaging Company, LLC $832.00, Lake Champlain Transportation Co. $826.00, Pyramids Child Development Center $812.00, Mountain Valley Teleservices $772.00, Brown Funeral Home, Inc $750.00, Lake Placid Central School $685.00, Gander Mountain $515.00, Touraid Travel, Inc. $500.00, Burgess Enterprises, Inc $500.00, UBS Financial Services, Inc $500.00, Commonwealth Home Fashions, Inc. $500.00, and Delagar – Division of Belcam, Inc. $380.00. Campaigns conducted at United Way funded agencies not previously reported include: JCEO of Clinton & Franklin Counties, Inc. $4,304.25, Behavioral Health Service North $2,782.00, Hospice of the North Country, Inc. $1,852.00, North Country Center for Independence $1,232.00 and Plattsburgh YMCA $1,079.00. Mike Mannix, now retired Executive Director said, “I am pleased to see the campaign surpass the goal. It is a true testament to John Masella and his dedicated team who worked so hard to make this happen. It is also a fine example of how this community comes together to help people in need. The next campaign will be chaired by Robert Donlan of Donlan and Barcomb Financial Investment Services. John Bernardi, current Executive Director of the United Way said, “I am really looking forward to working with Bob and all of the campaign volunteers to benefit this great community of Clinton and Essex Counties. |
