The United Way of Clinton & Essex Counties, Inc., is a voluntary fund-raising and human service organization. Started in 1949 as the Community Chest, it became the United Way of Clinton County in the mid-seventies and assumed its current name in February of 1996 when it expanded services into Essex County. .
